A meeting of the public peace and reconciliation forum
in the town of Gonder has held to address the dissolution of the Amhara and The
Qeman communities.
The purpose of the community is to permanently resolve
identity-based conflicts that occur in the region, particularly in the central
and northern Gonder areas.
In the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen,
senior officials of the region, religious leaders, local elders and other
stakeholders were present.
Participants were advised to discuss the role of the religious
leaders and other interested parties to stop the ongoing clashes and
displacements in the respective regions.
Amhara State Deputy Chief, Lakewu Ayalew, said there
are about 30,000 internal displaced peoples in the Amhara region.
